Tanya Sobenina

I was born in 1981 in Kaliningrad, Russia, where I continue to live and create. As an artist, my practice revolves around photography and text, exploring themes of memory and fundamental existential questions through the lens of personal experience. I navigate the intersection of the individual and the collective, using art to retell both my own stories and those of others. My work aims to create a safe space for the exploration of a wide range of emotions, addressing both individual and collective traumas.

I draw inspiration from philosophy, psychology, and psychogenetics, which inform my artistic approach. Utilizing film and a medium-format camera is a crucial aspect of my practice, allowing me to capture the nuances of the narratives I seek to convey.
